H.D. White passes...
Brothers,
Today I attended the funeral of H. D. White, Sr. in Athens. The funeral was a small, private service with immediate family and close friends present. Although the service was private, Mrs. Pauline White assured us that all AGR brothers were welcome to attend the service as part of Harold's extended family. Active chapter brothers, alumni, regional, and national AGR directors attended the service. - (Ken Jones)
DeLynne Satimore (his daughter), H. D. White Jr., and Wilbur Mull spoke at the funeral and each of them shared with us recollections of why H. D. White was loved by so many. I wish I could share their heartfelt comments in full. H. D. Jr. said that although his father had contributed much to AGR, he still wanted to do more. He truly believed in the fraternal bond.
As AGR's we all knew how much H. D. White meant to Alpha Gamma Rho but he was so much more than just an AGR. He was a true leader in every facet of his life. I have attached his obituary below that lists some of his many accomplishments and services.
Mrs. White made arrangements so that memorial contributions can be made in honor of H. D. White to AGR. Several years ago, a leadership scholarship named in honor of H. D. White was announced by the Educational Foundation. This scholarship will recognize leadership in the chapter, on campus, and elsewhere by active AGR brothers. Information is listed below about how to submit a contribution.
No one can replace H. D. White. He was the foundation of our chapter as surely as the new concrete foundation that was poured last week in the ongoing renovation. Now he has passed the torch to us. Together, we can build on his foundation and continue to build better men. By continuing and growing our brotherhood, we will honor H. D. White.
